Meet Our Team

Dr. Hollifield Victoria M. Hollifield, DVM

I am the owner and veterinarian of Best Friends' Veterinary Hospital.

I opened my practice in 1992.  Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I graduated from UMUC, with honors, in 1984 and from Tuskegee University in 1988, as a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. I did an externship program at Zoo Atlanta between my 2nd and 3rd year of vet school. I worked at NIH from 1987 to 1997, starting as a rodent and rabbit colony veterinarian at the Veterinary Resources Branch of the National Center for Research and Resources. I eventually became the Animal Program Director at the National Center for Human Genome Research. While commissioned officer at NIH, I worked part-time in several private practices.

I am an avid lover of all animal life and work with animal rescue operations for Montgomery County as well with wildlife at Second Chance Wildlife Sanctuary.

My husband, Bill Ponton, and I, have a wonderful son, Grant.

Charlotte with Marley

Office Manager

Taking care of animals and helping people are two passions that I have had throughout my life. Initially joining the Best Friends’ family as a receptionist, I brought with me over 20 years of experience providing client care/technician services in veterinary medicine, rescue work, and with pet care companies.

I’ve homed numerous animals over the years, and have loved every one of them as if they were my very own. I currently share my life with three rescues. No matter what the day brings, I enjoy knowing that hopefully someone’s “Best Friend” is a little bit happier.

Meg and Twix

I’m Meagan, I’ve loved animals all my life and have a little one of my own named Twix. He’s a chihuahua dachshund mix and he’s my right-hand man. I always knew I wanted to work with animals, Best Friends’ has given me that opportunity :) In my free time I like to play Sims, go to wineries, and watch horror movies.

Hi. I’m Cecelia, a vet tech here at Best Friends’. Before joining Dr Hollifield’s team I was working with the Humane Rescue Alliance in DC as first animal care, then a vet tech.

I’ve earned my BS in Zoology from Northern Michigan University, and am currently working on my veterinary technician degree with Penn Foster.

I’ve got an adorable cat at home, Axinite, though I’ve been a temporary home to many fosters, and I keep many animals in my heart. I’m so excited to meet everyone’s animals and do my best!

Lead Surgery Veterinary Technician

I grew up with many dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and other small animals I could sneak past my mom.

Currently, I have 2 cats - a grey tabby named Zeus and a Siamese name Apollo. I also have a black Boxer named Kole who is my sidekick.

I always knew I wanted to work with animals.

I am currently going to school to be a veterinary technician and continue to become a vet.

Kennel Supervisor and Veterinary Assistant

I am loving, smart, and always willing to learn new things! I enjoy working at Best Friends' Veterinary Hospital because of the friendly family-oriented environment and, most importantly, I know the case care of our animals is given by Dr. Hollifield and staff.

I am originally from Olney, MD and I have been around animals my entire life. I am a proud mom of two tabby cats names Smokey and Bandit and a very energetic dog named Willow.

I enjoy going to the beach with my fiance, shopping, and going out to dinner with my friends and family.

Veterinary Assistant

I'm Danielle and I was raised around animals of all kinds.

I've ridden horses, handled broodmares, and cared for their foals. I've even taken care of a stallion.

I've always had a dog as a pet, but I've also had birds and exotics.

I have served as a manager at a regional pet supply store and also worked as a pet sitter and park ranger.

Pets are my passion and I treat all of them as my own.
